There could be times when the level of service promised by your Internet Service
Provider (ISP) is less than what you were promised. Your internet service provider
reports a delivered internet upload and download speed to the Federal Communications
Commission. These numbers are on a Broadband Map.
However, you may be getting less than what your service provider is reporting. If you
have unreliable or poor internet, take the speed test.
If you complete the speed tests, we will have your speed test data to submit a formal
challenge to your reported service level by street location. A valid Speed Test Challenge
requires tests to be taken from the same location on three distinct days.
We can use the speed test data to compete for the funding to improve the delivery
levels of broadband internet to our region.
When we submit valid test results, we'll be participating in what is called the Broadband
Equity, Access and Deployment (“BEAD”) Program Challenge Process.
